Beard is ThinkFastMoveFaster.com's featured Athlete of the Week

Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1986, Beard's military family moved all over the country from the time he was born. It wasn't until high school that he decided to pursue sports. Starting with football and baseball, Beard soon found his passion was actually for swimming. He soon gave them both up to dedicate all his time and energy to the pool.

"I experienced some success in my first year [of swimming] and decided to give [it] a shot," Beard said. "I ended up giving up football and baseball to pursue a collegiate swimming career."

Beard was recruited by Virginia Tech where he became a seven-time ACC Champion and three times in the 100 yard butterfly. He was also an ACC Meet record holder, Virginia Tech Team record holder and 2008 Olympic Trials Qualifier.
