Melody performs a wide variety of physically demanding duties as captain of a 40-foot catamaran sailboat for her company Utopia Sailing.

Along with her husband Tony, Eads has left her desk job for a life of outdoor adventures. She began boating as a child and has been on the water ever since. Melody not only enjoys sailing but also has a passion for hiking, kayaking, biking, and her "most prized activity, running." Eads is also a certified fitness instructor, and in her free time she enjoys participating in marathons and playing soccer in her home town of St. Louis, Missouri.
